Tuesday 27th November saw two football teams, of boys and girls from years 5 and 6, head off to King Arthurs School for a 6 a side tournament involving other primary school in our area. After an exciting afternoon, with both our teams playing exceptionally well, we were delighted to hear that both our teams had come out top in their group. All our children were awarded a medal and a certificate for their efforts. We were very proud of their behaviour and sporting attitude and delighted that so many of our parents were able to come and cheer the children on.
As a result of coming top in Group One, one team went forward to the second leg of the tournament on Friday 30th November at Wincanton Sports Ground, meeting teams from the Sexey’s, Whitstone and Ansford Schools Federation. Undeterred by the dreadful weather our trusty band of parent supporters were on the side lines to cheer our team on again. Many thanks from both the children and school to those parents. Our team rose to the challenge and played even better than they had on the Tuesday. After a nerve racking wait for results the children came a superb 3rd place. They only missed out on a place in the area finals by a whisker. Yet again the children were fantastic ambassadors for our school for which we thank them and say “Well Done!”
