Wincanton Primary School LEARNING TOGETHER, LEARNING FOR LIFE

15th February 2008

 Ofsted
We are sending home with this letter, a copy of the Ofsted Report and a letter from the Lead Inspector for the children.  We are very pleased with our report which clearly recognises the progress the school is making in raising standards.  Thank you to the staff, governors and, of course, you and your children.

Staffing News
Mrs Calloway has informed us that she does not intend to return to work following her adoption leave.  Mrs James will remain with her class until the end of term.

Uniform
Please ensure children wear school uniform, as detailed in the list sent to you recently.  I am concerned that some children are also coming in to school with inappropriate hair styles – please encourage children to consider whether they are presenting themselves as primary school children!

Year 6 Camp
A reminder that you can make instalments for this year’s camp at any time.  Please send money in a named envelope to the school office. We have organised a sponsored walk for next half term for fundraising and also we will be inviting you to our “Hat Show”.

World Book Day – 6th March
This year, the children will be entering a competition to design their own dream home.  We will also be holding a “bring and buy” book sale so please look out a book that is in good condition to bring into school.  More details to follow after half term.

World Maths Day – 5th March
Our school will be taking part in World Maths Day.  This is a global celebration of numbers as children across the world unite in a quest to set a world record in answering mental arithmetic questions.  They will be taking part in school and will come home today with log in details so they have the opportunity to play at home. The website address is: www.worldmathsday.com  *The site is on the web links part of this site.*

Year 6 Revision Sessions
The general revision sessions will begin on Monday 25th February.  They are on a drop in basis.  Maths revision sessions will start on Wednesday 27th February for those children who have been invited to attend.

Playbus
The playbus is coming to Wincanton Memorial Hall car park on Friday 22nd February between 10-12 noon.  There is no charge to get on the bus - all ages are welcome.  Under 8’s must be accompanied by an adult.

Thank you!
A very big thank you to everyone who donated cuddly toys.  We have received over 12 bags.

Thank you also for the lovely jigsaws.  Mrs Girton was delighted to receive them.  If you are having a “sort out” over half term and find any more they would be gratefully received!

Mrs Nye is keen to get her hands on a second hand Playmobil dolls house.  Please speak to her if you can help.

We hope you all have a happy and restful half term.  We return to school on Monday 25th February.
