Wincanton Primary School LEARNING TOGETHER, LEARNING FOR LIFE

7th March  2008

New School
Governors met with representatives from the local authority on Monday evening.  There is still no move forward with regard to a new school and no funding available.  The local authority is in regular contact with Miss Glen and Governors, and in turn Miss Glen will keep you informed. It could be a long wait!

Miss Glen is concerned that there are rumours circulating in the community regarding some changes to our school.  There is absolutely no change planned to our school or our school site at present.

Uniform
Following some discussions with parents regarding uniform providers, I am looking at some alternatives but this may take some time.  Please bear with us.

 Book Fair 12th – 17th March
The book fair will run before and after school on the above dates.  Children will be able to spend their £1 tokens that were issued on World Book Day.

There will also be a sale of Phoenix cards and stationery after school on Thursday 13th and Friday 14th March in the hall alongside the Book Fair.  10% of sales will go to school funds.

World Maths Day and World Book Day
We hope your children enjoyed taking part in World Maths Day.  Students across the globe set a fantastic new world record with
182,455,169 correct answers! Well done!! The children can continue to use the website until 16th March.
We raised £50.16 from our book sale and we hope the children enjoy the books they bought. The money received will be donated to World Book Aid.  Thank you for your support.

Absence from School

Can we remind all parents to phone the school office (01963 32132) if your child is going to be absent from school for any reason.  This avoids the need for office staff to make phone calls home which is a costly and time consuming exercise.  Your co-operation with this is much appreciated.

Parking !
We have received a complaint from a resident living on the “Coles Yard” estate regarding parents driving and parking inconsiderately.  Please try to avoid using this estate.
